Bliss Portal

Doorway to Bliss

One day about two years ago I was travelling through the northern United States on a big driving-roadtrip kind of journey when I stopped to visit an old friend in Bozeman Montana. This friend, a descendant of John Humphrey Noyes, founder of the Oneida Utopian Community in northern NY state in the mid 1800s, was once an investment banker with Credit Suisse, but had long since diverted his professional energies to a path that was more aligned with his inner voices. He's currently a key member of an organization based in Bozeman that helps preserve and highten awareness of Native American cultures, rituals and wisdom. The path to this more bliss-centric existence was full of self discovery. Along the way, he found Joseph Campbell (author of The Hero With a Thousand Faces, etc.) and other "old wise man" guides to the magic of tuning-in and following ones bliss. During this journey he created a piece of art on an old door (click on image above to see more).

For those on a quest to align life-engeries with their most heart-felt "purpose/bliss", this door is a very wonderful thing to see -- the kind of thing you come across in a good story when the hero needs a little nudge of encouragement.

The text on it, a quote from Joseph Campbell, reads:

If you follow your bliss
you put your self on a kind of track
that has been there all the while waiting for you
And the life you are living
is the one you ought to be living

When you can see that
you become aware
of those on the road of your bliss
and they open the doors to you

Follow your bliss
don't be afraid
and doors will open
where you didn't know
they were going to be
